This was supposed to be a quick little warmup drawing, but one thing led to another and before I knew it, it had turned into a repository for a lot of the new media and some tools I’ve been accumulating over the last year or so. I loved every second of making this one. My only regret is that I didn’t record the peeling of the stencil I used for the airbrushing. There’s just something about that moment that’s so immensely satisfying.

This is one of my drawings that will be in the St. Louis Artists’ Guild juried exhibition, Clearly Human V, opening this Friday—so I thought this would be a good time to repost it now that it’s glazed.

This was drawn with soft pastels on 9”x12” Bristol paper.

I originally captioned this, “How I usually feel around 8 to 9am”, but it’s pretty much a visual description of how I feel all the time, now. I feel sorry for anyone who crosses my path these days, because the sleep deprivation I’m going through has me talking like I’m blitzed out of my mind.

I’ve deleted all my posts and pictures thanks to Meta’s decision to scrape user data to train its AI (Meta says it only trains on public pages/profiles and, to my knowledge, there isn’t a way to make this page private). Eventually I’ll probably start sharing new artwork using a digital watermarking technology that can protect images from AI training and even sabotage the training results. For now, anyone who’s interested can find me on Cara. I’m also still on Instagram for now and considering doing the same there, but currently resorting to making that profile private while I make up my mind.
