HOPE IS ALIVE!
Good morning everyone! Pastor Gaylene here! Hope this morning finds you all happy and well! I pray that God woke you up this morning with joy and gladness today! Just a quick reminder that worship time has changed for the summer. Worship begins at 9:00 here at Hope Lutheran. So just think about it. Come for worship and start the Lord’s Day off with worship and praise and the rest of the day is open for whatever great things you have planned! It’s kinda cool!
This week’s message is from Matthew 9: 35-10: 8. We will talk about Jesus calling the disciples. What an unexpected bunch of folks. These men and women were not pillars of the community. Matthew was a tax collector. James and John were uneducated fishermen. Philip doesn’t think anything can come from Nazareth. And then there was Peter. He is not quiet or reserved and who generally only opens his mouth to change feet. And yet, Jesus called these “misfit” folks to spread His gospel far and wide! Jesus loved them and taught them, blessed them and sent them out! Come this Sunday and find your place in this bunch and be loved and blessed.
We are a casual dress, coffee drinking bunch who welcome all who come through our doors. We would love to see YOU! This summer we begin worship at 9:00 am. Communion is the high point of our worship and ALL are welcome at the table of grace, mercy and forgiveness. There is room for YOU!
Come as you are.
Come and see.
Come and fellowship.
Come and worship.
See you Sunday. 9:00 am.

Love ya’!

SERVICE REPLAY
Though Jesus was a devout Jew who practiced his faith, he was criticized for eating with tax collectors and sinners—the religiously nonobservant. Jesus criticizes the self-righteous and reminds us that mercy is to be at the heart of our religious practices. God continues to be made known in those on the margins of society, like Matthew the tax collector and the hemorrhaging woman. As we gather each Lord’s day, we receive the healing that makes us well and sends us forth to be signs of God’s mercy for the world.
