All channels, me and Zoe Pardee are alive and well in Springtown. My power and therefore WiFi was out for about 4 hours so I didn't hear about the big tornado πŸŒͺ️ until it came back on a little while ago. I heard hail and loud thunder, apparently there was a gas tank at the gas plant north of town that blew up, and I heard that there was at least one fatality. I don't have any damage here that I can see in the dark right now. Lots of friends are blowing up my messages from all over the country so I'm just posting this for proof of life. I hope my neighbors are okay, I don't know the full extent of the damages locally yet. Everybody be safe out there. πŸ€—β€οΈπŸš«πŸŒͺοΈβ›ˆοΈ

Okay, food p**n time again, I made homemade sourdough pita bread and stuffed it with Asian stir-fried veggies and rice with Sriracha peanut sauce. πŸ‘©β€πŸ³πŸ₯–πŸ₯’πŸ›

Pita recipe is 1 cup white flour, 1/2 tsp of salt, some very active sourdough yeast starter that has wheat flour in it, and water to make the dough consistency, and a little lagniappe whole wheat flour for dusting, and disposable gloves are helpful and some waxed paper for rolling it out.

Mix your flour, salt and liquid starter in a large bowl with your fingers and add a little water if you need to make the dough come together. Hand knead and twist it over and with your fingers (preferably wearing gloves) with a little extra flour so it doesn't stick to your hands for about 5 minutes until it gets kinda stiff. The dough should be about the size of a baseball. Then put it back in the bowl to rest and put a lid or a plate over the bowl and set it in a warm place like on top of the stove for a few hours (I left mine for 6 hours) until it at least doubles or triples in size. Then with a greased or buttered knife blade cut the dough into four equal pieces and roll each piece into a round dough ball and get two sheets of waxed paper, dust them with more wheat flour, place a single dough ball between the sheets and press it flat then roll it out thin to about the size and shape of a large tortilla and repeat with all four dough balls to have four flat bread doughs.

Peel the waxed paper off and carefully place one flat bread at a time In a large, very hot, dry skillet (no grease, cast iron works best) and let it cook about a minute on one side until it starts to bubble up a little bit then flip it over to cook the other side and it should puff up in the middle. It's done when it's fully puffed up. Set it aside and do all four the same way, and when they're done cut each one in half across to form 8 pita pockets. Stuff them with whatever you want.

PM me for the Sriracha-peanut sauce recipe. πŸ‘©β€πŸ³πŸŒΆοΈ πŸ₯œ

I was out taking pictures of my garden project today, enjoying a beautiful afternoon and I couldn't resist doing a little front porch guitar pickin' and sharing it. Folsom Prison is one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs to play. 🀠🎸🎢

I'm not dead, I'm just GARDENING!!! πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎπŸŒ± I was sick in bed with CKD last spring and didn't get to do a garden at all so this is meaningful to me. πŸ€—β€οΈ

I got dressed and hiked down to the plant nursery in Springtown and got some plant starts for my garden, I got rosemary, mint, a red Mojave salvia, and a couple bluebonnet plants. πŸͺ»πŸͺ»πŸŒ± I've got seed cups going for a couple kinds of tomatoes and several kinds of peppers, and I also have some mirlitons (some people call them chayote squash, they're way better than cucumbers IMHO) and sweet potatoes that I'm trying to sprout in cardboard boxes of dirt, the idea being to get them started and then just plant the whole box, I also have some ginger and beans planted separately too, and I have some potatoes with really pretty eyes that I might plant. Everything else is direct-sow. Today's mission should I choose to accept it is working on my garden beds and putting my electric chainsaw together that .williamsjeff sent me last year. It's supposed to almost freeze on Monday night so I'm gonna wait till after that cold snap to plant anything outside. And then it's supposed to get 94Β° later on in the same week because Texas weather is cray-cray. 😱πŸ€ͺπŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎ

After I get my garden in, I need to get back to work on music 🎸🎢 and jewelry πŸ‘©β€πŸ cause I need more money, I spent my whole $50 bucks on garden stuff like seeds, fertilizer, and diatomaceous earth to get rid of the damn fire ants. 🚫πŸ”₯🐜 Meanwhile I still have my June Bug CDs available for $25 bucks, and plenty of existing inventory jewelry if you wanna help support my gardening project. I also take Venmo if you just wanna donate to my cause, PM me for details on all of that.
