For this week, the Division has been able to use the Chlorine Tank simulator from the Ohio Fire Academy for Hazmat training. The simulator has been located at Station 8, whose new tall and wide bays allow plenty of room for training. The firefighters who are HazMat Technicians have been suiting up for a Level A entry, while the other firefighters are practicing their support skills for an incident. All Springfield firefighters are trained at a minimum to the Operational level, while the Technicians are part of the Clark County HazMat Team, and as such will respond across the County. This simulator is free from the Ohio Fire Academy, as are all of the training aids, that can be brought to any Ohio fire department by the Academy, who can also provide instructors.

For the month of September, the Division responded to 1501 total calls, or an average of just over 50 runs per day. There were 1287 EMS calls, or 42.9 medical calls each day. There were a total of 22 fires, which broke down to 3 building fires, 2 vehicle fires, and 17 minor fires. There were 72 false alarms and 120 other calls for assistance. During this month, 1 veteran retired and 4 new members joined the Division, and were assigned to company, bringing our total strength to 130 firefighters.

Yesterday, 9/28/26, Moorefield Twp. Fire Dept. had a house fire along Villa Rd., but only had only E74 with 2 firefighters available. Mutual Aid was requested from Springfield Fire Rescue Division, who responded with E4, T7, M7, R1, Battalion 1, Chief 3, Logistics 1, and Training 1. E74 hit the fire quickly, keeping the fire to a single room, and SFRD assisted in the extinguishment. One civilian received minor injuries and was assessed by M7, but refused transport to the ER. The cause is under investigation by Moorefield Twp. FD.
