A few weeks back I shared an antique sitting bench. While bringing the bench back to life I discovered layers of material from the past on the seat of the bench.

Most of the layers were in poor condition. This layer was revealed after 3 layers. I just loved the blooms. Instead of tossing this vintage material (from the 30s or 40s) I saw its potential. After a gentle cleaning and finding this gold gilded oval frame I got years ago, I knew they were a match.

Aren’t the blooms just lovely? This sweet piece is ready for a new chapter of beauty and this little project gave me a fresh reminder to look past the layers to discover the potential to bloom.

The sun came out for today’s sale. A definite theme of European mid century romance vibes with the vintage finds. I just love the brass mirror lipstick tray. I’ve never seen one before and it’s just darling. Other finds are the busts by Universal Potteries, a Robinson Ransbottom drip glaze planter, sweet glass and brass trinket box, brass shell stand with glass bowl. This will look perfect with seashells and coral. And a pair of elegant silver plate candelabras. These will be coming soon to the shop. I’m prepping a big amount of finds to do a refresh in the shop at - so stay tuned.

Antique furniture always has a story and this Victorian bench is no different. Peeling back the layers was a step in time revealing one time period to another. There was even a time when it had bright red velvet. The layers were dry rotting - except for the final one in grey. It may be the original as it was nailed on. That layer remains as part of its years of stories. I added the paisley upholstery material so it now has yet a new layer of stories ready to begin. For the piece I almost left behind, I’m so glad I took the chance.

What a cutie! This pretty pink daisy Pyrex 1-1/4 Quart Space Saver with lid will be available soon in the shop. A few years in the making to bring them together. Which is rather common when it comes to hunting vintage - patience and more patience.
