MORRISTOWN, Vt. -- Green Mountain exploded for 7 runs in the 2nd inning, but Peoples Academy chipped away at the Grizzlies lead before securing a 9-8 victory in extra innings.

Peoples scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to force extra innings and added the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to advance to the D-3 quarterfinals.

Five different players had multi-hit games for GM, who recorded 13 hits as a team.

Green Mountain finished the season with a 4-10 record.

WALPOLE, N.H. -- Fall Mountain needed extra innings this time around, but for the third time this season, the Wildcats defeated Stevens to advance to the NHIAA Division III quarterfinals.

With the game tied at four after seven innings, Fall Mountain scored in the bottom of the 8th inning to walk-off with a 5-4 victory.

Devyn Cheeney went the distance for FM, allowing only 1 earned run while striking out 7.

Six different players recorded hits for Fall Mountain, who also stole 6 bases and capitalized on 3 Stevens errors.

Fall Mountain (13-4) heads to 3rd-seeded Belmont for its quarterfinal matchup on Saturday at 4 p.m. Belmont (15-2) escaped with a 2-1 victory against 14th-seeded Winnisquam this afternoon.

Three local teams had their seasons come to a close this afternoon, but not without plenty of success over the course of the spring.

The 11th-seeded Springfield baseball team dropped a 7-0 decision at 6th-seeded Middlebury this afternoon to finish the season with a 6-9 record. The Cosmos improved on last year's 3-12 campaign and are slated to return all but two players next spring.

Springfield's softball team was also shutout by a 6th-seeded squad this afternoon, but they have plenty to be optimistic about with the majority of their roster composed of freshmen and sophomores. The Cosmos finished the season with a 5-10 record after today's 12-0 loss at Enosburg.

Green Mountain not only revived its softball program after a two-year hiatus but also managed to win a couple of games along the way. The Grizzlies finished the season with a 2-13 record after today's 16-0 loss at BFA-Fairfax, but similar to Springfield, a significant majority of its roster was made up by underclassmen.

Vermont Academy's Kaiden McCarthy earned the 2026 Vermont Gatorade Player of the Year Award for baseball.

Kaiden was dominant on the mound this season while pitching in the competitive Lakes Region League.

Kaiden signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Tennessee, but he also has a chance to be the first Vermonter ever selected in the first three rounds of the MLB Draft this July.

Fall Mountain (10-6) earned the 7th seed in the NHIAA Division III Softball Tournament and will host #10 Belmont (9-7) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The winner will advance to the quarterfinals and travel to #2 Prospect Mountain (15-1) on Saturday.

Fall Mountain did not face Belmont during the regular season but enters the playoffs as winners in 10 of its past 12 games.

Gilford (15-1) earned the top seed in Division III.

Fall Mountain earned the 6th seed in the Division III Baseball Tournament and will host #11 Stevens on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Fall Mountain swept the regular season series against Stevens by scores of 12-2 and 2-1.

The winner will face the victor between #3 Belmont and #14 Winnisquam on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Monadnock (15-1) earned the top seed in Division III.
