The Illinois General Assembly passed a sunset extension bill late last night extending the implementation deadline of the Illinois Interchange Fee Prohibition Act (IFPA) by one year, to July 1, 2027. This important action protects Illinois consumers, businesses, and financial institutions from major payment system disruptions while our legal challenge continues. Thank you to the legislators and coalition partners who supported this effort. The IBA will continue advocating for a permanent solution that works for Illinois consumers and small businesses.
