Springfield Police Department

Last week, the SPD family said goodbye to K-9 Aero.

Aero was 12 years old and served our department and community for five years. He was much more than a police K-9, he was a loyal partner, a member of our department, and a beloved part of Sergeant Ortiz’s family.

We want to thank Sergeant Ortiz and his family for making Aero part of their home and giving him so much love throughout his life. We know his loss leaves a tremendous hole in their family.

Aero served Springfield well, and we are grateful for every year we had with him. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Rest easy, Aero. You were a good boy.

The City of Springfield City Hall, Police Administration/Investigative Division, and Fire Administration will be closed Monday September 7th for Labor Day. Emergency and on-call services will remain available 24/7.
