Fresh, local food is waiting for you at the Old Capitol Farmers Market presented by HSHS St. John's this weekend 🌱

It’s a great chance to stock up on nutritious, seasonal produce and support local growers right here in our community.

And don’t forget β€” with Link Up Illinois Link Match, SNAP shoppers can stretch their dollars even further and get more fresh fruits and vegetables to bring home.

Stop by, shop local, and take advantage of this great resource for healthy food access.

A morning well spent cooking, learning, and connecting! 🌱

Today, members of our board and advisory team joined the SIU Department of Culinary Medicine for a hands-on breakfast experience in their teaching kitchen. With the guidance of Dr. Stacy Sattovia and Chef Nicole Swartz, we learned how practical cooking skills and nutrition education help build healthier communities.

Experiences like this help bring our vision of a community-centered market and gathering space to life - and remind us how much we can learn through partnership and collaboration.

A big thank you to our hosts SIU Medicine for sharing the space and expertise with us! 🫢

Springfield showed up for the planet πŸŒŽπŸ’š

We had a great time connecting with the community at the Earth Awareness Fair at Union Square Park this weekend.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Rooted in Springfield table to talk food access, plant seeds, and learn ways we can all help care for our environment.

And thank you to the City of Springfield - Office of Public Works for bringing the city together for such a great event.

Earth Day is a good reminder that small actions add up. 🌎🌱

If you’re looking for a simple way to celebrate, start with our Earth Day to-do list β€” plant something, spend time outside, support community gardens, and shop local.

Today, when you shop at Simply Fair, 10% of all purchases will be donated to Rooted in Springfield to help grow community gardens, fresh food access, and neighborhood green spaces right here in Springfield.

It’s an easy way to support the planet and your community at the same time.

Let the good things grow. 🌱

Today, we're celebrating Emma Shafer's birthday, whose memory and spirit inspires the work of Rooted in Springfield every day.

Emma believed deeply in the power of community. Rooted was founded to carry that spirit forward. Today, and every day, we work to build a community where people feel connected, cared for, and rooted in something bigger than themselves.

If you'd like to celebrate Emma today, we invite you to do something simple that brings people together.
