Our major project is the Visioning Garden on Linden and Rice Avenue. Springfield Promise Grows (SPG) and the Visioning Garden are projects of Springfield Promise Neighborhood. We are committed to the dignity of feeding our families and providing for their health and vitality. The one acre Visioning Garden has a Hoop House that is newly rennovated to include beds to grow food for Promise events and
local food pantries. It includes public demonstration beds that provide free produce to anyone child or adult. The Kitchen Vegetable Garden provides beds for 25 residents to grow vegetables in their own plots. We have planned a recreation and meeting space that will involve water wall, basketball and tetherball area, and a play area for children. A meeting space with tables provides an area for food education as well as for community celebrations. Launched in 2010, Springfield Promise Neighborhood (https://www.facebook.com/springfieldpromise) is a non-profit working with a network of schools in south Springfield. SPN is dedicated to the success of the children — a success measured by their ability to succeed in school and eventually graduate from high school with the skills necessary to get a good paying job or pursue higher education opportunities. SPN believes that both a thriving neighborhood and a thriving school are needed to drive youth success. Our truest vocation as parents and caretakers is to nurture the growth and development of our children — to help them discover and share their greatness with the world. And so we make this promise: We will work together to ensure that ALL our children succeed — that they will graduate from high school with the skills for employment or to pursue higher education.
