In May 2004 a small group of people first met to begin the process of starting a L'Arche community in St. We applied for Pre-Project status and were accepted, incorporating as Friends of L'Arche St. in early 2007 and as a tax exempt 501(c)(3) entity effective later that year. Saint Louis is recognized as one of the most generous cities in the United States when it comes to charitable giving. Give STL Day, hosted by the St. Louis Community Foundation, is a day to celebrate and support all the nonprofits in our wonderful city. We believe that L'Arche St. Louis' contribution to our local community is invaluable. Congrats to Nicole, who won the Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the year award for 2026! This award from the Gateway Coalition of Service Providers acknowledges DSPs who demonstrate consistent dedication, compassion, and professionalism and who frequently go above and beyond their typical responsibilities. We are so grateful to have such a caring and kind person on our team! Even though Nicole mostly does overnight shifts, she’s pictured here with Tim, cheering him on at a recent basketball game.
