Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing

In recognition of National Skilled Trades Day on May 6, Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing took a moment to celebrate the individuals and teams whose expertise and dedication help keep the community running smoothly every day.

As part of the celebration, Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing presented an award to Mountain View, recognizing the company’s outstanding service and ongoing commitment to maintaining the beauty and functionality of the campus. Their work plays an essential role in creating a welcoming and well cared for environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

In addition, a special “Making a Difference Award” was presented to Chuck DellaPenna, General Manager of Mountain View. This honor recognizes his exceptional dedication, leadership, and continued service at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing. Through his efforts, Chuck has made a meaningful and lasting impact on the community.

National Skilled Trades Day serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the important contributions of skilled professionals across a wide range of fields. At Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing, it also highlights the valued partnerships that help support daily operations and enhance the overall living experience.

The recognition of Mountain View and Chuck DellaPenna reflects a shared commitment to excellence and a deep appreciation for the work that often happens behind the scenes but makes all the difference.

This past February, The Loomis Communities welcomed members of the greater community to its first-ever Chowder Bowl, an event that blended friendly competition with a shared commitment to giving back.

Culinary teams from each Loomis Community took part in the competition, each preparing their own chowder and bringing creativity and skill to the table. Guests from the surrounding area were invited to sample each entry and cast their votes, playing an active role in selecting the fan favorite.

Top honors went to the Nova Scotia Seafood Chowder, prepared by the culinary team at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing. The dish stood out among the entries and earned the highest praise from attendees.

While the competition added excitement to the day, the true impact of the event was felt through its support of the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. As part of the Chowder Bowl, guests were encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations. Across all three Loomis communities, a total of 419 pounds of food was collected, helping to provide approximately 349 meals to individuals and families throughout Western Massachusetts.

Events like the Chowder Bowl reflect The Loomis Communities’ ongoing commitment to fostering meaningful connections while supporting the broader community. By bringing people together around a shared experience, the event demonstrated how even a simple bowl of chowder can make a lasting difference.
