Just some information for you today! Let’s talk tattoo aftercare!

Everyone is different, everyone’s skin is different, different chemistry to their genetic makeup! However following these steps usually work for most people!

Days 1–3 (The Fresh Stage): Your tattoo may leak plasma, ink, and fluids. This is normal! It’s your bodies natural immune system getting ready to fight any kind of germs, and start the healing process! Some redness and swelling is normal! Keep your initial bandage on for the time your artist recommends (usually 2–24 hours). After removing it, gently wash with anti bacterial soap, pat dry with a paper towel, and apply a very very thin layer of Aquafora, or a cream based lotion, or specialized aftercare balm.

Days 4–14 (The Peeling/Itching Stage): This stage is the least favorite but it’s important too! Your tattoo will begin to peel and itch, much like a sunburn. Stop using heavy ointments and switch to a light, fragrance-free lotion. Use this as needed! You want the tattoo and your skin moist, but not drowning. Please do NOOOOT pick or scratch as this can remove ink and cause scarring.

Weeks 3–4 (The Final Stage): The peeling stops, but the skin may still be slightly dry or dull. Continue moisturizing and keep the area hydrated!

Just remember always follow your after care, listen to your artist and any specifics they give you or have, and always take care of your body! Moisturize, wash it, keep it clean! Nooo swimming or submerging, no pet stuff on it, no chlorine, and be mindful!
