Commissioner Clapprood mourns the loss of one of our own police chaplains, Bishop Neal Boyd.
“On behalf of the entire Springfield Police Department I would like to express our condolences to the family and parishioners of Bishop Neal Boyd.
Bishop Boyd began serving as a police chaplain in 2016 and was very active in participating with our C3 Units. Along with our C3 officers he would go door to door handing out information and meeting residents in the South End. During our Project Blue Light ceremony last November, Bishop Boyd’s remarks were moving.
He was genuine and his impact on our community will truly be missed. An advocate for mental health, an advocate for the police and a true man of God; may he rest in peace.”
