Schools across Springfield are organizing May Day actions before and after school for Friday, May 1st.

May Day was born out of U.S labor struggles and has since expanded as a day of celebration for workers internationally. The SEA has developed a series of actions to stand with workers across the globe on May Day.

Members are encouraged to take one or more of the following actions in the spirit of the day:

1. Wear SEA Blue Shirt and/or SEA May Day Sticker to work
2. Attend or Organize an SEA Stand Out at your worksite before or after school (check with your building Rep, times vary).
3. Attend the regional May Day Rally in Holyoke at 4:30 at Heritage Park.

Upset about Springfield Public School’s 2026-2027 SY Calendar?

Attend school committee on Thursday 4/9 at 6:00 pm. The School Calendar is on their agenda. In order to influence change, we must mobilize and show our willingness to act.

Over 1200 educator, paraeducators, and nurses have filled out our survey (link in bio) indicating their thoughts on the calendar and how it affects them. People are overwhelmingly dissatisfied.

Imagine the power we’d have if even 10% of those who filed our the survey showed up at school committee?

Only action can result in change. RSVP to attend School Committee on 4/9 by scanning the QR code in this flyer or by going to the URL below.
