"Books and education gave me the opportunity to believe bigger things were possible.” - Bobby Bones

Mountain Pine, Arkansas, a rural community southwest of Little Rock with a population of less than 600 residents, is where national radio personality and first-generation high school and college graduate Bobby Bones’ story began.

Last month, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF), DG Media Network and iHeartMedia returned home with Bobby to support his school district and help open doorways for other Garland County students.

Mountain Pine School District was surprised with a $50,000 Reading Revolution literacy donation from Dollar General, more than 700 new books for students’ personal libraries from Bobby and iHeartRadio as well as DG gift card to purchase classroom supplies for teachers and staff. The hometown celebration also served as the culminating event for DGLF’s seventh annual The Yellow Glasses Project, which has raised more than $9 million to support literacy and education programs for learners of all ages across the country since 2020.
