hatever image I'm working on. I apparently have a need to digitally alter my original image using photographs, handmade textures, and other elements to create new textures and colors - to convey a different story than nature originally intended. That story translates differently from one viewer to another. I love the magic of digitally mixing layers of textural facets that enhance the original image and make it almost independent of the original. It is in the moments of transforming that original image––be it a photograph, illustration or eco-print––that I form an intimate connection to my art. I exert my vision through the process of mixing these mediums by choosing what elements I will add. It is when I am deep in the process of layering those facets, that my control diminishes and I allow the digital “magic” to take over. As the image develops and reveals itself, my vision will frequently shift. As I welcome that evolutionary process, I begin adding finishing touches and thereby reveal a new story.
