Juneteenth is more than a historical marker—it is a critical lens through which we examine our past, honor our present, and demand a liberated future.

At the STCC Library, we recognize that libraries are never neutral. Historically, access to literacy and institutional knowledge was weaponized to maintain systemic oppression. Today, we actively subvert that history by centering Black culture, scholarship, and joy as essential truths, not "supplemental" history.

The History: Juneteenth reminds us that legal decrees are meaningless without structural enforcement. True liberation requires dismantling the systemic barriers that delayed justice in 1865 and persist today.

The Present: We honor Black culture through epistemic justice—ensuring Black voices and critical scholarship are foundational pillars of our collection, providing the tools to interrogate power and systemic racism.

The Future: We are committed to building an equitable space where Black students, creators, and thinkers are celebrated, archived, and entirely free to thrive.

Education is an ongoing act of resistance. We invite you to engage with our curated collections of Black literature and radical history.
