One of the things my hero dad always said was, “I get to.” What he meant is that often we grudgingly do our thing—we say, “I have to.” You know, “I have to take out the trash,” or “I have to finish this project,” or “I have to call that person or drive that carpool or wash the dishes!”

Hero Dad said when we change the “have to” to “get to,” what once felt like drudgery or a duty turns into a privilege and an opportunity. Good stuff, right?! I use his advice all the time. I “get” to follow his wisdom!

Maybe you need to stop saying “have to,” and start saying, “get to.” You won’t believe how it can improve your day, your week, your … life!

Verse of the day: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Earth really does not have any sorrow that the hope, the promise, the Person of heaven cannot heal. In His ministry on earth, Jesus opened the eyes of the blind, healed the sick, and restored the downcast in so many ways. And you know what? He'll do it again in eternity, this time forever, for always, and for all of us who follow Him.

My friend, when we see His face, every earthly heartache and joy will fade. So ask God to open your spiritual eyes even now so you can truly take in as much of His flory as is humanly possible on this side of the veil - His goodness, His grace. Ask God to help you know the flory that is only seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
