Laura:
Thank you for your time. Please give us the backstory about how and when your band was established.
GenarationZ:
JenX, grew up to entertainer parents in Branson MO, the live country music capital in the 90s. She’s personally been performing publicly and professionally since she was 5 years old. Being a child entertainer came with challenges, so between that and choosing to raise her children differently, she stepped away from performing professionally for 20 years. This is her journey back to music, reconnecting to her identity, and a bit of a healing journey for her. Growing up classically trained country with a rock soul, she always felt very limited in her creative expression and performance genre opportunities. Transitioning to rock, she was honestly nervous it wouldn’t translate, and she wouldn’t be accepted, but the love the metal community has shown her has just been tremendous. She’s beyond grateful to be performing again, in her own way, with her own expression that matches her true identity. Her bandmates are very talented musicians who have been making music together for many years. The universe definitely brought the collaboration together about a year ago at the right time in all their lives, and they’re ready to carve out their space! They’ve got lots of music coming!
Laura:
How would you describe your music-making process for your latest single, “Probably Death?”
GenarationZ:
All of our music seems to flow naturally. We all pull from our own individual creative spaces and it seems to work.
Laura:
Do you have a favorite song you like to perform the most? If so, can you please explain why?
GenarationZ:
That’s hard when you genuinely love all your music. “Stay with Me”, which is not released yet, is probably my favorite. I like how it’s both slow and aggressive.
Laura:
Can you please spill some behind-the-scenes details about how you prepare for shows?
GenarationZ:
We love playing shows and meeting new bands, so each one is special in its own right. No matter how long we’ve been doing this, there are always some nerves to push past, but we’re all friends, so there's not much better than hanging out with your friends preparing for a great time.
Laura:
What genre of music do you consider GenarationZ to be?
GenarationZ:
I think we’ve settled on alt- metal.
Laura:
Why call the band “GenarationZ?”
GenarationZ:
Daniel will have to explain that one, but I like to think we’re blending a lifetime of generational music that one can hope will last for generations.
Laura:
What should fans expect to experience at a show?
GenarationZ:
Hopefully a good time. We have a lot of fun on stage, so we hope that energy is felt by the crowd as well.
Laura:
Typical question here. Who has influenced you the most via music?
GenarationZ:
Well, growing up around musicians, it was always just there, but I’m grateful to grow up in the 90s where I think genres were really diverse mainstream, so we got a little bit of everything in us. With that being said, great artists are an experience. I’ve learned from every experience.
Laura:
How can fans and future fans locate, listen to and buy your music?
GenarationZ:
We’re on all major platforms, all social media, and check out our website:
Laura:
Is there anything else you would like your fans to know?
GenarationZ:
We appreciate every single one.
Laura:
What’s coming up next for GenarationZ?
GenarationZ:
We’re finishing up the last few songs on the album and hope to release it later in the year. Then the sky’s the limit.
