We have added more Bone beads in various shapes. Some are sold in strands and some individually. They pair well with each other, with antique-looking metals beads and spacers, and with many of the African beads. The sample pictured is made of roundel bone beads mixed with beads from our selection of loose beads. Odds and ends of copper from our “stash” add some color and more dimension.
So where do bone beads come from? Yep, they’re from animal bones. Native Americans used deer bones. In India you’ll find beads out of buffalo and cow bones, and in Africa they use cow camel and ostrich bone. They are hand cleaned and sterilized, giving us some great feeling and looking beads.
