On Tuesdays Austin (one of the kids who leases a cow to show during fair season) comes over after school. He comes over to do chores as part of his lease requirement. Him and Noah work together and take care of the chickens, clean the pies out of the cow pens and put in fresh straw bedding . They also follow the ration board and measure out each of the girls feed ration . They also follow fill all the water troughs while Ron milks . After milking we wash everything. Austin and Noah gained a new responsibility tonight and learned how to acid wash the milker , a critical step in providing clean delicious milk !

As I stand here in the quiet of a cold morning, listening to the sounds of the cows crunching on their thanksgiving breakfast, I can’t help but be so thankful for this year. We are so thankful for each and every family that has entrusted us to provide them with clean, safe and nutritious milk, eggs, beef, pork, and clean natural coffee creamers. All of which is raised the old fashioned way. We are thankful for these 4 girls here who not only have provided us this milk but have also provided two bull calves and two heifers to further continue us down this path. We are also thankful for the matriarch of the group Bessy, who we just found out in the last milk test is pregnant!! Due the week of our county fair! That should be fun.
