Val also was selected to travel to DC a few weeks ago to give testimony to a Congressional panel on the impact of SNAP benefits being cut on students and learning. She represented Springdale, Arkansas, SEA, AEA, and NEA with poise and professional experience and we could not be prouder of her.

Color Of Change and the National Education Association (NEA) invite you to join our Vouchers Disguised as “Scholarships” Town Hall on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 7:00 pm CST. via Zoom. Here we will be discussing the impact vouchers have on our public schools and on our communities, as well as giving us resources for how to advocate for public dollars staying in public schools!

School vouchers are being sold as a quick fix, but in practice, they drain resources from neighborhood public schools, expand privatization, and leave Black families holding the risk. Our town hall will unpack what’s really happening, how these policies impact Black communities, and what you can do to protect and strengthen your local public schools.

Hear from the President of NEA, Becky Pringle, Chief of Campaigns at Color of Change, Amanda Hollowell, and a powerful panel featuring parents, educators, and policy experts, with first-hand experience on voucher programs from across the country, and the push to defund public education.
