minor cuts and bruises, except Kailee, who was ejected from the rear window and died instantly. Countless lives were shattered in the blink of an eye. Even in the darkest hour, Kailee's parents made the decision to spread awareness about seat belt safety. From heartbroken parents, to you reading this now, here is their message:

1) Talk to your children and keep talking to them about the importance of wearing a seat belt...no matter how far you are going.

2) Parents, the responsibility behind the wheel is on us, too. How often do we, as adults, get in a hurry to get here or there? It takes three seconds to fasten your seat belt. Those three seconds can change your life and the lives of those who know and love you.

3) Drive responsibly. It’s not worth your life or your passenger’s life.

4) And specifically, if you have children, you are setting the driving example every time you get in the car, so buckle up. Our faith in God has never been stronger, and we trust in His plan - a plan that was decided on long before Kailee was ever born. We have filled our hearts with forgiveness, love and compassion for the driver and his family, who was a close friend. We saw a text message in Kailee's phone where she said that she was a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and we think one of those reasons is that her life was meant for something greater than what she could do from here.
