History and Significance
European Debut: The July 7 date traditionally commemorates the day in 1550 when cacao was first introduced to Europe.
Ancient Roots: Long before solid bars existed, the Mayans and Aztecs consumed cacao as a bitter, spiced drink called Xocolatl.
Solid Chocolate: In 1847, British confectioner Joseph Fry created the very first solid chocolate bar, transforming it into the modern candy we love today.
