While we wait for a website URL and other things before fully developing the page and going live, here's a little light reading that also boosts the numbers ever so slightly on the OP with the "share" 😉
AH, THE CLASSICS.... 😎 🎶
In amongst all the new stock we just got from Innova and MINT are these beauties. They're not colorful and the molds are far from new, yet these are the discs that excited me more than anything we got and I'll bet you know why...
THAT'S RIGHT! ☝️ Because it means I get to tell you a bit of a story. 😁
The XD ♥ Approved on Jan 1st of 1984 as the "Aviar XD", it's a true classic of the sport. Lots of young hands learned what "magical flight" was from their first disc, the old DX "bullet" XD. These 40th Anniversary discs have been delivered to us in Champion Glow plastic and, y'all, Innova finally joined in on the Phosphor Wars. The glow on these things is better in every way than anything they've ever sent me. Brighter, easier to charge, longer-lasting....
Folks, I lit one up for 10 secs with the floodlight on the little garage and then drove home for 40 mins. It was still glowing strongly on the seat beside me when I parked the car. Didn't even use my blacklight!
As to what the XD actually *is*, think of it a something of a slow mid that you could putt with if you had to. It's kind of an "everything" disc on the slower end of the spectrum. You have to use one for a while to really understand*. They fly 3/4/-1/1
And....? The noble Aviar. Approved on the same day as the XD as the "Aviar Putter", this is the putter platform that would feed generations of Californians. Aviars are E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E.!!!
You may know you're putting an Aviar if you use the Yeti or JK or KC models. The grid-stamped Classic Aviar also proudly announces its roots right in the name.
But the big-bead JK Pro Aviar-X, in beadless form, is the original P2. The Firefly, Alpaca, and Omega4 putters are all small-diameter P2s**. All Aviars. Even the Omega SuperSoft putter is one. It's the retired small-bead Aviar.
Right off the top of my head, I can identify no fewer than 10 discs that *would not exist* but for the simple 40 year old Aviar.
The 40-year version of this has been delivered in a buttery glow DX. I don't know how many of you have actually putted original Aviars but, if you haven't, this is the run to try out! It's a truly classic mold in a great version of the original disc golf plastic ♥ (AVIAR 2/3/0/1)

(*fortunately, we're selling them right now! 😁)
(**I'm oversimplifying this part a tiny bit 🤏)
(*** I'll soon be signing off as "Jim @ SCC" to reflect the change of the business name to "Spring Country Club". It's still me, tho 🤗)
