🔭 Here’s what I’ve discovered: I will now explain to the client what not to do in between the consultation and the starter Locs appointment. Like, avoid heat styling or anything that could potentially change your curl pattern. As well as avoid styles that can cause breakage (tight braids).

✅ Here is why I don’t start Locs on processed/heat damaged hair:
High or excessive heat can permanently break the S-S or disulfide bonds within hair strands that give hair its strength along with protein cross-links. Besides the need to start the foundation on healthy hair, the heat trained hair won’t look or behave the same as the natural hair. That could make the Locing process difficult.
