One of the best pieces of advice I was given early in my career is this: Creativity is the one thing that will be necessary in the workforce over the next 20 years... and creativity happens in the MARGINS. The critical piece here? You can't force the kind of breakthroughs you have when you step away from your work. I've found this to be true over & over again. My greatest "aha moments" both personally and professionally have happened not after doing MORE work, but after doing less. Shutting the laptop. Allowing my mind to wander. Going for a hike.

It has been 15+ years since I was given that advice and now I treat stepping away like it's the most critical part of my job. Because it's from rest that my best work flows. See you on the other side!
