Do you have to talk yourself into exercise?
I used to be that way, too. I was a bit in denial that exercise made me feel better.
No, really.
Somehow I convinced myself that I was lazy. I'm not sure where or when it started, but I actually referred to myself as lazy, and I felt like exercise was a chore.
I had created a story for myself that wasn't true.
I'm not lazy. Nor is exercise a chore for me.
I needed to find an exercise that I actually enjoyed. I needed a reason to get up and get moving.
When I tried Pilates, I felt like I had found something new and exciting. It was challenging, different every session, and FUN.
I no longer have to talk myself into exercising. Pilates, and now Yoga, is reason enough to get my butt on my mat and move.
Maybe you wouldn't have to talk yourself into moving, either. Are you ready to try something fun?

Remember a few months ago, when I told you about the pinched nerve in my butt? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve spent most of the time since injuring my poor t**h worrying that I’d make it worse or that I had done permanent damage.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While the worry kept me doing my homework, it was draining. Luckily, when I saw my chiropractor last week, she gave me the go-ahead to get back to it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yes, I was elated last Thursday. But Monday night, I felt some pain creep back in. Tuesday, I spent the day doing the things I knew would bring relief.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You know what?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It worked. I slept through the night, pain-free. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yesterday, I got the relief I needed. Not just pain relief. I let go of the worry.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I had pain, but I made it go away. When I realized my work (and Angela Scopel's work;)) paid off, and that I didn't need to worry anymore, I relaxed for the first time in months. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I no longer need to waste my energy on the “what if” something happens because I know that I have the tools to fix it. I'm too relaxed to care.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A year ago, I started teaching virtually out of what was once our shared office, then a playroom for the kids, and now my studio/office.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I adapted, as we all did, and I'm still surprised by how much I've loved it. I've got a newfound appreciation for mat exercises, and I've been able to grow my "studio" while reducing costs. I've found more creativity in my sessions and classes, and it's given me so many new ideas. I've launched a website and started online programs with people I love working with.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yes, the pandemic has had a negative impact on most of us in one way, shape, or form, but in this one area for me...it's been transformational. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I try to focus on that when the negatives come creeping in, and it's getting me through the 💩.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
