On March 31, 2026, at approximately 6:00
PM, the Spring Valley Police Department responded to the area of 94 N Main St for a burglary in progress.
Responding officers encountered a male inside of an apartment and when confronted by the police, the male barricaded himself inside. The Rockland County REACT (Rescue, Entry, and Counter Terrorism) team was activated, and they were able to successfully take the male into custody.
Shawn Alexander Laury, a 31-year-old Spring Valley resident, was arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd, a C Felony, Criminal Mischief 2nd, a D Felony, and Criminal Mischief 3rd, an E Felony.
Shawn was held pending arraignment in the Spring Valley Justice Court.
A criminal complaint is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On March 19, 2026, at approximately 6:39 p.m., the Spring Valley Police Department responded to 120 South Main Street for a reported incident that was later determined to be a robbery.
Officers located and detained two juvenile suspects and one adult male at the scene. The investigation revealed that the victim had entered the suspects’ vehicle, where a pair of scissors was held to his throat. The suspects forcibly removed the victim’s cellphone and approximately $10 in cash. They also used the victim’s phone to transfer $6 through a mobile payment application.
The victim was later released after convincing the suspects he could retrieve additional money from his residence, at which point he contacted police.
Following the investigation, Dennis Osei, 19, of New City, along with two 17-year-old juveniles (one from West Haverstraw and one from the Bronx), were arrested. The juveniles’ identities are being withheld due to their age.
Osei was charged with:
• Robbery in the First Degree (Class B Felony)
• Robbery in the Second Degree (Class C Felony)
• Menacing in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
He was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail on bail of $10,000 cash, $25,000 bond, or $35,000 partially secured bond.
Both juveniles were charged with Robbery in the First and Second Degrees and were arraigned in Rockland County Youth Part, where they were released on their own recognizance.
