Spring Hope Elementary will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week the week of October 26 – 30, 2026

Red Ribbon Week is a time when people throughout the nation focus on drug prevention and education. Knowing about the dangers of using alcohol and drugs will help our students to commit to living a life that is safe and drug free. It is important that children develop coping skills now that will help them to say no to alcohol and drugs. Please support our weeklong drug free campaign by encouraging your child to participate in the follow activities:

🗓️Monday- October 26: We are RED-y to say “NO” to drugs! - Help kick-off Red Ribbon Week by wearing RED to support a healthy lifestyle.
❤️

🗓️Tuesday- October 27: Team Up Against Drugs! - Wear your favorite team gear. 🎽🏈⚽️

🗓️Wednesday- October 28: Doing drugs is just plain crazy! - Show off your crazy hair and / or your crazy socks. 🧦🤪

🗓️Thursday- October 29: When you’re drug free, your future's so bright! - Wear bright colors to school. ⭐️💚😎

🗓️Friday- October 30: Drugs aren’t in our character! - Dress up as a book character. (No masks, toy weapons, or face paint) 📚🎃

Parental discussions about alcohol and drug use are critical. Talkitoutnc.org is a helpful website that provides you with conversation starters, education, and recent data about teens and alcohol and drug use. Here are some helpful tips:
+Be a positive adult role model.
+Be involved in your child’s life.
+Set appropriate limits, clearly define and enforce rules.
+Make it easy for your child to share information about his or her life.
+Know what your child is doing and who their friends are.
+Teach your child about the dangers of underage drinking and drug use.

Good Evening Spring Hope Families,

Report cards were either sent home or available through our Parent Portal Friday, October 16th. If you have not signed up for Parent Portal, please contact our office for instructions. You will need to come in the office and present your ID to obtain your exclusive passcode to gain access. We should have 100% of our families to get this valuable portal of information.

Wednesday of this week will be our UNITY Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange in support of UNITY against bullying.

If you were unable to participate in the School Store program last week for your child to receive a book buddy, I will still receive their completed card this week. I have ordered a fresh supply of book buddies this week. This will be the last week I will receive the card returns and hand out book buddies.

The week of October 26th will be our Red Ribbon Week where we dress up for each day of the week. The theme for each day is on our page.

The SHES Book Fair is coming back to Spring Hope this year and will be open to students during the week of October 26th. The Book Fair will also be open for parents during our Fall Festival on October 30th

In the evening of October 30th, our PTT will be sponsoring a Fall Festival. We will have candy for trick or treating, games and bouncy houses for our school as a fundraiser for the PTT. We will be selling wrist bands to participate in all the festivities for $15. I will let you know when we will start pre-ordering the wrist bands.

Sunday, November 15th, we will have a free skate party at Start City Skate Rink from 3-5PM. Admittance is free for Spring Hope. The event is for Spring Hope Elementary ONLY! We will be the only ones at the rink for this event. Please make arrangements to come on Sunday afternoon. The only thin g you will have to purchase is skate rental for your child, which is $4. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase from Star City as well. If we have a good turnout for the party, other events will be set for Star City in the second semester.

We are so excited for these events to take place. But to be a success, we have to Show Up, Step Up and Refuse to Give Up!

Thanks for your attention and as always, it is a pleasure to serve as your Principal!

✨🦅Today, Spring Hope Elementary was in the spotlight with a visit from James Gailliard, who is running for NC State Senate. Mr. Gailliard wanted to stop by and see our school, so we were proud to show our Eagle Pride where we always "Show up, Step Up, and Refuse to Give Up!"🦅✨
