The Creative Place
Hello, Friends of The Creative Place! The TCP page will remain up for a little while longer. However, if you want to follow Kelly's quilty antics, please follow her at Kelly Ashton: Quilting Lectures & Workshops! Thanks!

Tomorrow, 5/12/26, nearly 10.5 years after the first “artists’ retreat”, the final remnants of The Creative Place will be removed from the buildings that have housed TCP since its inception. It’s a privilege to close a business by choice instead of by default; a privilege and experience that I don’t take lightly, especially at this time in history.
It has been a joy and a privilege to host makers from all over the country at The Creative Place. Most of our guests have been groups of awesome quilt makers, though we’ve enjoyed hosting a wonderful group of scrapbookers quite regularly, as well. 😊
The “Open Sew”, an event sponsored by TCP, has been held generally every 4-6 weeks since the very beginning (except for a relatively brief interruption due to the COVID pandemic in 2020). Our first-ever event was a New Year Open Sew from 1/1 - 1/3, 2016 attended by individuals from around the area, few of whom knew one another before that event. Over the years, persons have “come and gone” from attending the Open Sews, yet many from that very first event have continued to frequent the Open Sews throughout TCP’s existence. I am deeply gratified by the friendships and sense of community that have grown over the years as a result of that first Open Sew.
THANK YOU to all who have visited The Creative Place over the years! I have enjoyed meeting you, interacting with you, and seeing your projects develop! Whether you’ve visited once, occasionally, or have been a “regular”, you have contributed to the success of The Creative Place. Thank you for helping to make one of my dreams come true!
Best wishes!
Kelly
