Making apple dumplings will always bring back time spent with my Grammy. Memories of standing on a stool trying my hardest to figure out how to use the peeler as quick as her, and I know if she were here today she would still win in our little race. She was always so graceful in the kitchen, you could tell it was where she felt alive, where she belonged. It was a kitchen full of lessons, hugs, kisses and laughter. And any bite of her food felt like a spoon full of love, because that’s exactly what it was. I have a lot of thanks to give her for sparking my interest in baking. And although we never got to share a moment of my adulthood together I know she’s watching with a smile, at the little girl that couldn’t figure out how to peel an apple. 🍎🩷
