Wisdom appointed Pleasanton Fire Chief

Following the resignation of Jimmy Watts as Pleasanton Fire Chief after last week’s council meeting, the Pleasanton Council appointed Jeff Wisdom as the new chief of the city fire department.

Wisdom took the podium Monday night and said he’d spoken to the fire fighters at the station “and they will back me.”

Council person Rochelle Schreckhise asked Wisdom several questions aimed at ensuring the audience and rest of the council that Wisdom had the necessary experience to lead the department into the next stage.

Wisdom said, “I backed Chief Watts and I thank him for his efforts; we need unity, from the bottom to the top to get us moving in the right direction.”

He then told the council that he has several certifications he brings with him including AFFF, fire fighter foam, car wrecks, SCBA and more.

Wisdom said he intends to learn his fire fighters’ limitations and strengths and build on them; “and put them where they will succeed – not fail.”
