The Foley Library collaborates with the Unity Multicultural Education Center to celebrate Black History Month. Social Justice Peer Educator Sienna Flores and the Foley Library display staff created a book display focusing on African Americans and the contributions Black women have made in reshaping how society understands power, identity, and justice. Their work collectively advances and complicates intersectionality by showing how race, gender, class, sexuality, and nation operate simultaneously—not as abstract categories, but as forces shaping everyday life, bodies, and possibilities. The display includes books written by Black authors and influential figures throughout Black history. Finally, the display includes five historical and current Black women with descriptions of their contributions to the collective memory of our society.

The display is set up on the main floor of Foley Library, in the east wing near the glass classroom. The display will run through February 28, 2026. You can browse the display online at https://researchguides.gonzaga.edu/blackhistorymonth2026/home
