It was a very full house at the Elk VFW Post 5924 Friday night as we honored Marine Corporal Darrel Morris, had beautiful coins presented, and got lots of hugs from Kim Cole and Mik Cole.💙
We learned that Darrel was quite the 'man in the mirror' always checking his image, but mainly it was probably to check on that wonderful smile he shared with everyone. 🥰 Darrel was a caretaker from day one, by necessity but also by choice, and that showed when he requested a 2nd deployment to Iraq, just a few months after recovering from injuries from his first deployment.
Darrel was a true Hometown Hero and we're so thankful to Heroes Dinner founders Ryan & Jess Finnegan, the Post and everyone who came out to honor him. Thank you!!
