I had a client recent who was apologizing for being scared, and I felt her pain so deeply. We too often apologize for things we cannot control. You do not need to be fearless to birth your baby.
You can feel uncertainty while still trusting in yourself, nervousness while still moving forward, and feel fear and still be powerful.
You should never apologize for feeling your feelings. Honor them. Acknowledge them, and allow them to leave.
Maybe the goal isn’t fearlessness… maybe instead, the goal is presence.
As a doula here in Spokane, I PREACH self care! If any of you have been around me, you know that this is the one spot that I tell women to never skimp on in pregnancy and in postpartum especially.
However, this is the one place in life that I seem to fall short. I’m grateful for my friends who remind me that caring for others means caring for myself first.

😍
✨ A little dream I’ve quietly held onto is finally here. ✨
When I was 16, I wish someone had documented my birth story.
Not because it was perfect.
Not because I looked beautiful.
But because it changed me forever.
Years later, after my own redemption birth and supporting families through some of the most transformative days of their lives, I’ve learned something important:
Birth has a way of making time stand still and fly by all at once.
The look on your partner’s face.
The strength you didn’t know you had.
The hands holding yours through contractions.
The first cry.
The first touch.
The first time you hold your baby.
These moments deserve to be remembered.
I’m so excited to officially offer Birth Photography by Doula Dani.
As a trained birth doula, I understand the rhythm of labor, when to quietly step back, and when to capture the moments you’ll never want to forget. My goal isn’t posed perfection—it’s honest, intimate storytelling that reflects the power, strength, vulnerability, and love of your birth journey.
To build my portfolio, I’m offering special introductory pricing for a limited number of families.
A huge thank you to the incredible families who trusted me with these moments and generously allowed me to share a glimpse of their stories. Your trust means more than I can put into words. 🤍
Birth is powerful.
Your story is worth remembering.

This little birth comb can do more than you might think! This is a gift I always include in my goodies for my clients and here is why: it may be a simple comfort tool, but the science behind it is fascinating.
It works through something called the Gate Control Theory of Pain. The idea is that your brain can only process so much sensory information at once. When you squeeze a birth comb, the pressure and sensation in your hand send signals to your brain that can help “compete” with pain signals from contractions. Think about how if you stub your toe, you instantly grab it and apply pressure.
This doesn’t make contractions disappear, but it can help you to stay grounded, focused, and to cope better with the intensity that labor brings.
I love birth tools like this because they’re simple, inexpensive, portable, and put another option directly in your hands.
Have you used a birth comb during labor? I’d love to hear your experience below.

Now accepting Medicaid! 🎉
(Okay, I’ve actually been accepting Medicaid clients for the last few months already, but it’s finally time for an official announcement!)
This is something I’ve been working toward for a while, and I’m so excited to be able to offer more accessible support to families throughout Spokane and the surrounding areas.
One of my biggest goals with Lilac Birth Co. has always been making doula care available to more families. Birth support, education, advocacy, and postpartum care shouldn’t feel out of reach.
If you have Washington Apple Health (Medicaid), you may qualify for covered doula services during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
If you have questions about coverage or what doula support looks like, send me a message. I’d love to chat. 💜
Please feel free to share this with a friend who may benefit from this support!
