The Spokane Real
✈️ Spokane International Airport is officially entering the next phase of its expansion.
And if you're flying this summer, expect some noticeable changes.
Here’s what’s happening:
🚧 Short-term parking closures
🚗 Traffic reroutes + future lane reductions
🚶 Sidewalk and crosswalk detours
🏗️ Construction beginning on major infrastructure upgrades
But this project is much bigger than parking changes.
Future plans include:
✈️ A new central hall
🛄 Combined baggage claim area
🔒 Second-floor security screening
🔗 Connected terminal experience
And honestly, projects like this usually signal something bigger.
Airports typically expand because regions are growing.
More residents.
More tourism.
More business movement.
More long-term investment.
Spokane International Airport has quietly become one of the clearest indicators of how much the Inland Northwest is evolving.

⚡ A project requiring enough power to rival some of the region's largest industrial users could be coming to the Inland Northwest.
According to a recent SEC filing, Avista disclosed a non-binding agreement with an unnamed company requesting:
⚡ 125 MW of power beginning in 2029
⚡ Expansion potential up to 500 MW by 2032
To put that into perspective:
📊 Roughly 16% of Avista's current generating capacity
🏙️ Enough electricity to impact a significant portion of Spokane County's power demand
🏗️ One of the largest potential development projects discussed in the region in years
Many are speculating the request could be tied to a large-scale data center, though no company or location has been confirmed.
What we do know:
✅ SEC filing exists
✅ Power request is real
❓ Company remains unnamed
❓ Location remains unknown
❓ Regulatory approval still required
If this project moves forward, it could have major implications for economic growth, jobs, infrastructure, and future development across the Inland Northwest.

🥯 A popular Spokane bagel spot is expanding to North Spokane.
The Bagel Authority is opening a second location at:
📍 9335 N Newport Hwy
📍 Former Starbucks space near Rosauers
The original downtown location will remain open.
Here’s what makes this expansion interesting:
Same steamed bagel + sandwich menu
Drive-thru service added at the new location
Coffee, lattes, Lotus drinks, and online ordering
Local brand continuing to scale in Spokane
This is another example of a locally owned concept proving demand in one area, then successfully expanding into a major North Spokane corridor.

📊 I analyzed six months of Spokane housing market data.
Every home that sold.
Every home that failed.
Everything currently sitting on the market.
And the data revealed one of the clearest market pictures I’ve seen in a while.
Here’s the big takeaway:
Spokane is no longer moving like one market.
Some homes are moving fast with multiple offers.
Others are sitting with almost no traction.
And the difference between those outcomes is becoming very clear.
This market is becoming much more nuanced than the headlines make it seem.

🏗️ Charlie's Produce has officially broken ground on a new 66,000 SF distribution facility on Spokane's West Plains.
The company already serves customers across Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Montana out of Spokane — this expansion is about adding serious capacity to an operation that's already regional in scale.
📍 6500 block of W 40th Ave, West Plains 📐 66,000 SF total — 56,000 SF warehouse, 10,000 SF office 🌡️ Multiple temperature-controlled zones 🚛 17 loading docks 👷 Up to 180 employees across shifts 📅 Projected completion: April 2027
The West Plains keeps landing projects like this because the location works — airport access, freeway corridors, and the ability to move product across four states efficiently. When you start stacking major employers out there, it changes the long-term trajectory of that whole corridor, including the housing that tends to follow.
Do you think the West Plains becomes Spokane's dominant industrial hub over the next decade?
