Mission:
The Book Parlor ministry seeks and celebrates God's presence for the life of the world by:
- Providing hospitality in a welcoming and safe space
- Encouraging learning regarding God's presence in the world
- Networking and collaborating with neighbors
- Providing quality retail service as a full service bookstore
Just a friendly reminder that we are having a huge sale this Saturday! Everything in the store will be 50% off. Plus, we're offering a $1 "bag sale" on used books: fill a bag with used books, and take it home for just a dollar! We will see you on Saturday.
Saturday, August 22nd, we will be offering our biggest sale ever at The Book Parlor: take half off everything in the store! Dollar books will be 50 cents!
In the meantime, come in for 30% off all new books and chocolate. It's our way of saying thanks for so many great years in this location.
Dear friends,
On August 31st, we will close our store at 1425 W. Broadway. The Book Parlor will continue to serve the neighborhood as a simpler reading room in a new location, so watch this space for details, and please continue to consider us if you have gently-used books to donate. It has been a joy to serve this neighborhood with a retail store for so many years, and we are grateful for the support of everyone who has been a part of it.
If we have a book or a fair-trade gift item you've had your eye on, this is your chance. Starting tomorrow, all food and gifts (excluding consignment items) are 30% off! Look forward to great discounts on our new and used books through the rest of the month, too.
Thank you all for being part of a unique community of readers, thinkers and neighbors. We couldn't have done it without you.

We will be open until 3:00 tomorrow, for all of your book/chocolate/fair-trade gift needs before the holiday.
From our family to yours: have a great Christmas!
Just a reminder that the bookstore will be closed on Friday. We are thankful, as always, to be part of such a vibrant neighborhood, and we wish you a great day of gratitude and togetherness.
We will be back on Saturday with our C.S. Lewis event, celebrating what would have been his 116th birthday. Readings start at 2:30, with kids' activities and readings based on the Narnia books at 4:00. Join us!
This Saturday at 5:00, we're proud to host a Railtown Almanac reading! Join us for readings from Kathryn Smith, Liv Larson Andrews, Jacquelyn Barnes, Michael Schmidt, Stine Hanson, Zan Agzigian, Elizabeth Hansen, and James Decay. We will have more copies of the Railtown Almanac collection on hand, too, if you haven't picked up yours yet. Hope to see you there!
Welcome Advent with us this Saturday at 4pm in the bookstore. The event features readings from Kat Smith and Cara Strickland, plus activities for the whole family. Hope to see you there!
