Catching the Montana State Record Smallmouth Bass
It is something that any serious or competitive angler is aware of. The state record. We’re aware of the lake it came from, how much it weighed, and maybe have heard a tale or two about how it all went down. It is something that some anglers chase with year-round strategy and persistence, and that others are just happy to have a chance at if put in the right place at the right time. This is a story about both, as MLF touring pro John Hunter came West to Montana to chase what could be a new Montana State Record Smallmouth Bass. Joined with local hammer Josh Johnson, and Swate product manager Rob Bolke. The crew set out to chase personal bests on Fort Peck Reservoir, and have a chance at crossing paths with a new state record. Spoiler….it went down and records were broken.
