Eligible pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 receive WIC nutrition services, including:
- Nutrition evaluation, education, and counseling
- Breastfeeding tips and support
- Help finding health care and other social services
- Free food checks to purchase healthy foods. These foods provide high levels of protein, iron, calcium, and vitamins A and C – promoting health, growth, and development.

Did You Know: The word broccoli comes from the Latin word brachium and the Italian word braccio, which means “arm.” It was grown mainly in Italy until the 16th century when a royal marriage brought the vegetable to France. Broccoli was invented by crossing cauliflower and pea seeds; and is high in vitamins C and K1 and minerals like potassium, manganese, and iron.
