EWU Get Lit! Programs
Programs offers the Northwest's best festival for readers and writers. Our programs feature author presentations and readings, writing workshops and panels, author visits to schools throughout eastern Washington and into northern Idaho, youth poetry slams, and more. Many events are free to the public. The festival, now celebrating its twenty-third year, is produced by Eastern Washington University

Join us tomorrow at to celebrate MFA alum Janée Baugher! Janée is the author of the only craft book of its kind, The Ekphrastic Writer: Creating Art-Influenced Poetry, Fiction and Nonfiction (McFarland, 2020), as well as the full-length poetry collections, The Body’s Physics (Tebot Bach, 2013) and Coördinates of Yes (Ahadada Books, 2010). For her third poetry book, The Andrew Wyeth Chronicles, she won Tupelo Press’s Dorset Prize (2026).She’s a longtime assistant editor at Boulevard magazine and lives in Seattle, where the Office of Arts & Culture awarded her a 2024-2025 CityArtist grant to work on her memoir, “Suicide in the Mirror.” Professors Jonathan Johnson and Polly Buckingham will also be reading. This year we have two very exciting and FREE events taking place outside of our two main festival hubs. First, on Friday morning we'll be in beautiful Coeur d'Alene with our friends at North Idaho College for a reading and conversation with W***y Vlautin! The afternoon takes us to Saranac Art Projects for a public author's reception and gallery show which will feature visual art inspired by our festival authors! SAP artists have been working hard on their amazing pieces and we can't wait to see them with all of you! We'll see you on Friday!
