Washington Wine Novice

Sunday was fantastic! I got to visit my dear friend, Joile, and hear all about her amazing wine-tasting adventures in France and Spain. To my surprise, they found that most Washington wine holds their own against the ones she tasted on her trip! While we didn’t open any bottles she brought back from France, we did enjoy two different Tempus Cellars Cabernet Sauvignons, just a year apart, and even experimented by tasting them in different shaped glasses.
Did you know that the shape of a wine glass can affect not only the taste but also the aroma? The size and curvature can either concentrate or diffuse the “nose” of the wine, enhancing or muting certain notes. It was a fun and delicious way to experience how much glassware really matters!
I also love visiting Joile’s place for more than just the wine—it’s the incredible conversations and catching up that make it special. And there’s always the added bonus of them living on an airstrip. Her significant other has a knack for impromptu trips, and I’m lucky enough to join sometimes! ✈️
