The broadfork is one of the best investments we’ve made in our garden. If I was starting over, this would be one of the first things I’d buy.
This is not an ad, I’m just a happy customer of that appreciates having a tool so well made, I’ll never have to buy a replacement 👌
My particular broadfork is the “Market Gardener 30” wide 7 tine” broadfork with steel handles
There are also smaller, lighter and cheaper options available to fit whatever body and garden type you have
It’s not too late to plant brassicas (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, spinach, etc)
The key is picking the right variety for when you want to HARVEST.
Plant a heat tolerant variety now and you will be harvesting it late July/early August.
OR plant a cold tolerant variety in July and harvest in October/November.
Or do both!
We typically plant garlic in October or November and then harvest in July, so brassicas are the perfect crop to fill the “gap” in the garlic beds from July-October. We plant some cold tolerant varieties of broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage and some years we are able to harvest them as late as January 🤯
Get yourself a stirrup hoe 👌
