Posterity Tattoo

This was his first tattoo! A story of two powerful gods, Anubis and Sobek, and their eternal battle over the fate of a human soul.

In the ancient Egyptian belief system, it was believed that upon death, a person’s heart, representing their soul, would be weighed against the feather and scales of Ma’at, the Goddess of Truth and Justice. If the heart was pure and free from sin, the feather would remain balanced on the scales, and the soul would be granted eternal life in the afterlife. However, if the heart was heavy with wrongdoing, it will tip the scale and the soul will be devoured by Ammit, the devourer of the dead.

In this story Anubis, the God of the Afterlife, Guardian of the scales, oversees this process. He was responsible for guiding the souls to the afterlife and ensuring that the weighing process was fair and just. Sobek, the God Fertility, watches closely. Known for his fierce nature, the tenacity of life itself, He saw the weighing of the heart as an opportunity to assert his dominance and prove his superiority over Anubis. They represent the balance between Life and Death; Order and Chaos.

One day, a soul was brought before the scales, and Anubis and Sobek began their usual battle for control. As the feather of Ma’at was placed on one side of the scales, Sobek used all his strength to tip the balance in his favor. But just as it seemed that he was about to win, the unthinkable happened. The feather started to fall off, leaving a trail of blood in its wake.

Anubis and Sobek both froze, stunned by what they were witnessing. The heart was not heavy with sin, but the feather was still falling. It was a sign that even the purest of souls could still be weighed down by the weight of their actions. The trail of blood symbolized the consequences of one’s actions and the impact they have on the world around them.

It was not just about judgment and punishment, but also about self-reflection and accountability. The feather falling off was a reminder that our actions have consequences, and we must strive to live a life of integrity and righteousness. May the feather of Ma’at always remain balanced on our scales

What would you rock as your full frontal tattoo? Fully healed Egyptian full frontal tattoo except for the upper right portion of the headgear! Was his first tattoo! More people in Spokane need to get full frontals IMO 🙌🏽
