Moland Management
01/10/2024
Beginning January 12, the weather service is predicting the arrival of a cold snap in our area. Frigid temperatures are in the forecast for the next 4-5 days, and while we can't change the weather, we do monitor it to ensure we keep our energy supply at a level that will meet everyone’s needs.
When cold weather such as this hits, customers who heat their home with gas or electricity can see a significant increase in their energy usage.
For example, if we experience more than three days of temperatures that are 10 to 14 degrees below normal, our average customers see their energy use increase 25 to 50 percent during that time frame, depending on individual household circumstances.
Heating during the winter months adds up and is responsible for more than half of the energy a home uses. During periods of colder than normal weather, a home’s heating system works harder – even if no one touches the thermostat.

Spokane County
Public Works
Sewer Service Rate Increase
Effective March 1, 2024, Spokane County will implement new sewer
rates. A rate increase is necessary to support the ongoing operation and reliability of the public sewer system as well as assist with increased costs of treatment due to additional regulations. Rates help fund a wide range of items, including the ongoing cleaning and inspection of sewers, collection system upgrades, preventative maintenance and repairs, scheduled equipment replacements, energy and chemical costs, emergency response, and the daily operation of treatment plants. Rates will increase by $1.00 for most customers, which is just over a 2% increase in a time of rising inflation. Additional rate information for a Single Family Residence, Duplexes, Multi-Family Dwellings, Business/Commercial and Manufactured Home Parks is available on our website
at www.spokanecounty.org/publicworks.
Spokane County has changed the monthly sewer rates effective February 1, 2022. The new monthly rate for a house or duplex, in the county, is $47.41.
