Chester Elementary PTO
5th Grade Tunnel:
Today we celebrated our amazing 5th graders as they take their final walk through Chester and prepare for their next adventure in middle school.
To all of our 5th grade families—whether you've been part of the Chester community for one year or many—we are grateful you chose to be part of our Coyote family. Thank you for your support, partnership, and the memories you've helped create along the way.
Congratulations to all of our 5th graders! We are so proud of the growth, kindness, and perseverance you've shown during your time at Chester. We know you'll do great things in middle school and beyond.
We'll miss you, Coyotes! Once a Coyote, always a Coyote. 💙💛🐾

Another successful Coyote Book Hunt is in the books! This year, our students chose nearly 800 gently used books to keep, along with an awesome keepsake Coyote Book Hunt bookmark.
The gratitude and excitement from our students made this event so special. I was stopped several times by kids telling me they were already loving the books they had chosen. Even more heartwarming was seeing the kindness our young Coyotes showed one another. One of my favorite moments was watching students help one another, suggesting books they knew their classmates would enjoy.
I heard several students proudly say, "I picked one book for me and one for my little brother/sister." Another child carefully selected a firefighter book to give to their dad for Father's Day because he's a firefighter and they thought he would love it. One sweet student jumped up and down with excitement when she found a Mulan book that she planned to wrap and give to her mom because it's her favorite princess.
The love, thoughtfulness, and generosity our students show each other are exactly why this has become one of my favorite PTO events. ❤️
We are also incredibly grateful for the generous book donations from our Chester families. Your donations make it possible for us to continue this wonderful tradition year after year.
You may notice that this event was formerly known as the Book Swap. We renamed it the Coyote Book Hunt because the previous name often led to questions about how it worked, and everyone seemed to love the new theme!
Thank you for your continued support of our PTO and our students. And if you're doing a little summer cleaning, please keep us in mind—we are always accepting gently used books for the 2027 Coyote Book Hunt. We have a collection spot in the school vestibule, and we'd love to help your books find a new home with another young reader.
Thank you for helping us inspire a love of reading, generosity, and kindness in our Chester Coyotes! 🐺📚📚
