As you gather with family and friends to celebrate the Fourth of July, please remember that fireworks are only permitted within the City of Spanish Fort on **July 4 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM**.

Use fireworks responsibly

Keep a safe distance from spectators, homes, vehicles, and dry vegetation
β
Have a water hose or bucket of water readily available
β
Closely supervise children around fireworks
β
Be considerate of neighbors, pets, and veterans who may be sensitive to loud noises
β
Properly dispose of used fireworks by soaking them in water before discarding
π« Fireworks are prohibited outside the permitted date and time.
π« Discharging fireworks in a manner that endangers people or property is prohibited.

A Legacy of Service Comes to a Close
Today, we announce the retirement of Fire Chief Roger Few, effective September 30, 2026, after an extraordinary 45 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Spanish Fort community. Chief Few formally announced his retirement following a fire service career that included 35 years as Fire Chief and 17 years as the first paid Fire Chief of the City of Spanish Fort Fire Rescue Department.
Throughout his career, Chief Few has led with integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to protecting the citizens of Spanish Fort. Under his leadership, the department grew alongside the community, strengthened training and professional standards, built lasting community partnerships, and successfully transitioned to a combination paid and volunteer department.
Chief Few expressed his gratitude to the citizens, city leadership, and the men and women of Spanish Fort Fire Rescue for their trust, support, and dedication throughout his career. He shared his confidence that the department will continue to serve with honor, integrity, and professionalism for years to come.

On behalf of the City of Spanish Fort and Spanish Fort Fire Rescue, we extend our deepest appreciation to Chief Few for his decades of leadership, sacrifice, and service. His influence on this department and community will be felt for generations.
