When planning & prep time takes a bit longer because you’ve always been a paper and pencil kinda gal 📝 👩🏼

Celebrating a Sensational Sunday by sharing a client win! When creating a mission statement for Mindful Junction, I landed on, “connecting contemplation to transformation” because it embodies the message that change starts from the mindset of YOU and only you. And that’s where my client’s story begins! Meet a full-time working wife and mom who put her own needs on the back burner to accommodate her busy day to day schedule (sounds familiar to anyone?! 🙋🏼‍♀️) She began her personal training journey with me about a year ago and started feeling good and seeing improvements until *BAM* a promotion at work (did I mention she’s a badass, driven lady?! 👊🏼) threw her busy schedule even more into a frenzy. Add on top of that a surgery for her son, winter colds 🤒, holidays, an increased work demand, and…well… , and her training sessions became less and less. At the start of 2023, my client came to me and said, “I HAVE to reclaim time back for me!” So what did she do? She signed up for 3 months of personal training on the spot 💪🏻 And recently when work started to pick back up and her kiddos began participating in community activities, her daily schedule started to fill up again. But this time, instead of canceling her training sessions, do you know what she did? She hopped onto the appointment scheduler and booked herself for 5:30am training sessions for the next month! (Ask her a year ago if she’d ever consider a 5:30am training session she would’ve laughed in your face. Believe me, I tried 😂) So why now? Because SHE came to the realization the importance of honoring her health and wellness. SHE came to the realization that 5:30am is the time of day where there are no distractions and she can solely focus on herself. SHE came to that realization. And from that realization, turned contemplation. From that contemplation turned transformation. So today I am celebrating this transformation for my client 🎉 I’ll see her bright and early tomorrow morning 💪🏻

Closing out the Core Components to your overall health is Sleep and Rest. 😴 The relationship between a good night's sleep and your health is well researched. Sleep is your body and mind's opportunity to reset and recover.

A good sleep routine can help recharge your immune system (read: getting sick less often!), improve your ability to concentrate, aid in weight loss, decrease blood pressure, and improve mood and emotional well-being. It is recommended that adults get at least 7 hours of QUALITY sleep a night.

Stay tuned as I focus on the physical demands required of new moms and how to address sleep deprivation while in the throws of motherhood. As a mom of 3, I hear you. I see you. The struggle is REAL. But I promise, there are ways to help! (or at least make it suck just a little less) 😉

The next Core Component to Health & Well-Being is Fulfillment and Purpose.
That which gives meaning to your life. (yeah…it’s a biggie!) It may not feel as concrete and straight forwards as some of the other components to health, like nutrition and exercise, but it is an integral part to your holistic health.

Pursuing fulfillment and purpose requires diligent self-reflection, insight into your values and strengths, and an active effort to find opportunities that “fill your cup”. This area of health and well-being offers individuals a better understanding of his/her place in the world. Living authentically. A “pursuit of happiness” if you will.

Research has shown that individuals with a strong sense of purpose and fulfillment tend to engage in healthier behaviors and lifestyle choices. Further studies have shown that individuals with a strong sense of purpose in life utilize effective stress management techniques and have good sleep habits.

Finding fulfillment and purpose can be hard! And there’s a term for that…”purpose anxiety”. We’ll dive more into that this week and ways in which it can be addressed to help in your journey of living authentically.

But for now let’s share, what “fills your cup”?
