🎧 The Story Behind Mixed Ed Entertainment

Believe it or not, Mixed Ed Entertainment started back when I was in middle school.

I was always making mixed CDs for friends and family, and that’s actually where the name came from. When I would write “Mixed CD” on the discs, my “C” had a big swooping style to it—almost like the Coca-Cola logo. People would mistake it for an “E” and read it as Mixed Ed. The nickname stuck, and before long, so did the name.

Years later, while working at a local bowling alley and restaurant, I was given an unexpected opportunity. They needed a DJ for events on the patio, and one day I was basically handed a credit card and told, “Make it happen.” So I did.

What started as music on a patio quickly grew into something much bigger. One event led to another, then weddings, private parties, community events, fundraisers, and before I knew it, Mixed Ed Entertainment had become a real business.

In 2016, another major chapter began when I brought in Lucas Harner, who would become my younger business partner. That’s when the business really took off. I focused on what I loved most—MCing, hosting, and creating memorable experiences for our clients—while Lucas focused on mastering the art of mixing. Completely self-taught, he spent countless hours learning, practicing, and developing his skills behind the decks. Over the years, he grew into an incredible DJ in his own right, helping take Mixed Ed Entertainment to another level and allowing us to offer an even better experience for our clients.

What I love most about this industry is being part of people’s stories. Whether it’s a wedding, school dance, fundraiser, corporate event, or community celebration, every event is unique. Music has a way of bringing people together, creating memories, and turning ordinary moments into unforgettable ones.

Looking back, it’s pretty amazing that a middle school kid making mixed CDs would one day turn that hobby into a business that has helped create memories for countless people throughout our community. From patio parties to packed dance floors, it’s been an incredible journey—and we’re just getting started.
